Reasons for Kennedy:


• Khrushchev was sacked as a Russian leader in 1964 and replaced by a tougher leader (like Stalin) who was called Brezhnev

• The withdrawal of the Russian missiles in Cuba made it harder for Russian to threaten the USA

• Kennedy took the whole world to the edge of nuclear war and he looked strong in the face of the Russians

• Kennedy was the one who stood up to Khrushchev and wouldn’t back down over removing the Russian missiles from Cuba

• When the Russian mistakes were removed from Cuba the USA was less vulnerable and didn’t feel threatened by Russia

• Khrushchev was forced to withdraw the Russian missiles from Cuba when they were faced with the American blockade around Cuba

• The USSR felt more safe as they succeeded into getting America to withdraw the missiles from Turkey

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait supported Iraq financially during the Iran-Iraq War. Other countries who financed Iraq were the United States who would later fight Iraq twice. Iraq received huge amounts of financial support from these countries to fight Iran  yet they became enemies after Iraq invaded Kuwait.
