Skeletal muscle support and Movement. Skeletal muscles move the body. Skeletal muscle contractions pull on tendons, which are attached to bones. If contraction of the muscle causes the muscle to shorten, the bone and, thus, the body part will move. so your answer is D

Hi Mimi9758,

Keep in mind that when speaking of muscle (I'm assuming in a mammal) there are three types:

skeletal muscle
smooth muscle
cardiac muscle

skeletal muscle is under voluntary control, smooth muscle in under autonomic control, and cardiac muscle is under the control of the pace-maker cells of the sinoatrial (SA) or the atrioventricular (AV) node

So, marching down through these:

A) moves food and substances through the GI tract - this would be SMOOTH muscle

B) helps maintain body posture - this would be SKELETAL muscle

C) promotes the flow of lymph - tricky... this would also be the SKELETAL muscles: contraction of skeletal muscles "squeezes" the fluid in the lymphatics, which ultimately drain into the venous system

D) moves the bones of the skeleton: this would be SKELETAL muscle

E: helps to adjust blood vessel diameter: this would be SMOOTH muscle

So, the correct answers would be: B, C, and D

Hope this helps!

Good luck

Which vitamin can be synthesized in significant amounts by humans and, therefore, may NOT be essential
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

The correct ansqwer is- Vitamin D

Explanation:

Vitamin D is the vitamin that can be synthesized by the human body itself therefore it is not an essential vitamin for human beings. Human skin is the part that helps in making this vitamin in humans.

The natural form of vitamin D is vitamin D3 which is formed by the sunlight exposure on the skin. When we expose our skin in the sunlight the UV radiation penetrated our skin and converts provitamin D3 into pre-vitamin D3 then this previtamin can be isomerized into the natural form of vitamin D Which is vitamin D3. So the right answer is vitamin D.

laila [671]

Answer:

Typically in mammals, the gender of an organism is determined by the sex chromosomes. In the case of humans, this happens to be the X and the Y chromosomes. So as you may recall, if you are XX, you are female. If you are XY, you are male.
