Why did the Labor movement gain strength after the Civil War?

After the Civil War most of the country was destroyed. The only way to fix it was to start building America back to the way it was. This required many people to help. The Labor movement then started to grow.

In this form of conquering, England had nominal control of their colonies by imperial government, but the colonies could elect their own rulers and their were able to make most of their decisions by themselves.
