Solve for x (get x by itself)

4x-\frac{5}{y} =2z       Add 5/y on both sides

4x-\frac{5}{y}+\frac{5}{y}=2z+\frac{5}{y}

4x=2z+\frac{5}{y}       Divide 4 on both sides to get "x" by itself

\frac{4x}{4} =\frac{2z+\frac{5}{y}}{4}

x = \frac{z}{2}+\frac{5}{4y}

If dividing 4 confuses you, then you can do this:

4x=2z+\frac{5}{y}      Multiply 1/4 on both sides

(\frac{1}{4})4x=(2z+\frac{5}{y})(\frac{1}{4})  Distribute 1/4 into (2z + 5/y)

x=(2z(\frac{1}{4})+\frac{5}{y}(\frac{1}{4}))

x = \frac{z}{2} +\frac{5}{4y}

For a project, you need to make three triangles out of cardboard. Each triangle has a height of 5 inches and a base of 10 inches
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

Option 1st is correct

3 \cdot (\frac{1}{2} \cdot  10 \cdot 5)=x

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of the triangle is given by:

A = \frac{1}{2}bh

where,

A is the area of the triangle

b is the base and

h is the height of the triangle.

As per the statement:

For a project, you need to make three triangles out of cardboard.

Each triangle has a height of 5 inches and a base of 10 inches

⇒b = 10 inches and h = 5 inches

\text{Area of each triangle} = \frac{1}{2} \cdot  10 \cdot 5

Since,  you need to make three triangles out of cardboard

⇒\text{Area of 3 triangle}(x) =3 \cdot (\frac{1}{2} \cdot  10 \cdot 5)

Therefore, an equation can you use to solve for the total amount of cardboard you will need is,

3 \cdot (\frac{1}{2} \cdot  10 \cdot 5)=x

Find the GCF of 4g^4 and 34g^3.
USPshnik [31]
Yes, find the prime factors.

4 can be written as 2*2.
g^4 can be written as g*g*g*g.

That is the prime factorization of the first expression.
4g^4 can be written as 2*2*g*g*g*g.

34 can be written as 2*17.
And again we can split up the g business: g^3 is g*g*g.
34g^3 can be written as 2*17*g*g*g.

What do these expressions have in common?
They have a 2 in common,
and three of the g's in common, ya?

Therefore the GCF(4g^4, 34g^3) = 2g^3.

Using the slope formula, find the slope of the line through the given points (8,0) and (2,-4)
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

m=2/3

Step-by-step explanation:

the equation for slope (m) is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

here are the given points: (8,0) and (2,-4)

label the points

x1=8

y1=0

x2=2

y2=-4

substitute into the equation

m=(-4-0)/(2-8)

m=-4/-6

m=2/3

the slope is 2/3

To the nearest tenth, find the perimeter of ∆ABC with vertices A(2,4), B(-2,1) and C(2,1). Show your work.
galina1969 [7]
First, we should calculate the lengths of the three sides (see the figure below).

The distance between two coordinates (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) is given by the formula
d= \sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1})^{2}+(y_{2}-y_{1})^{2}}

Because the triangle is a right angle (indicated by the figure), we can determine the lengths of BC and AC easily.
The length of BC is the change in the x-coordinates, and AC is the change in the y-coordinates.
BC = 2 - (-2) = 4
AC = 4 - 1 = 3

To find AB, use the distance formula (the same as the Pythagorean theorem).
AB = √[(2-(2)) ²+ (4-1)² ] = √(4²+3²) = √25 = 5

The area of the triangle is (1/2)*BC*AC = (1/2)*4*3 = 6
