Success = p
failure = (1-p)
is the correct first step.

To find the probability of at least one success, P(X>0), it is much easier to first calculate the probability of P(X=0)=NO success.  Then the complement of
P(X=0)'=1-P(X=0) = P(>0) = probability of at least one success.

By the multiplication rule,
P(X=0)=(1-p)^9
or the binomial distribution
P(X=0)=C(9,0)(p^0)(1-p)^9=1*1*(1-p)^9=(1-p)^9

So the probability of at least one success = 1-P(X=0)
=1-(1-p)^9

the sum of three numbers is 55. the second number is twice the first and the third number is five less than the second. What are
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Let the first number be = x

Then the second number = 2x

The third number = 2x - 5

Their sum = 55

This can be written in an equation as =

x + 2x + 2x - 5 = 55

= x + 2x + 2x = 55 + 5 ( transposing -5 from LHS to RHS changes -5 to +5 )

= x + 2x + 2x = 60

= 5x = 60

= x = 60 ÷ 5 ( transposing ×5 from LHS to RHS changes ×5 to ÷5 )

= x = 12

The first number = x = 12

The second number = 2x = 2 × 20 = 24

The third number = 2x - 5 = 24 - 5 = 19

Therefore , the three numbers are 12 , 24 and 19 .

A Copy of machine produces 80 copies in 5 minutes. How many copies would be produced in 40 minutes?
BlackZzzverrR [31]
The answer would be 640. To find the number of how many copies are produced in 1 minute you have to write 80 divided by 5 which equals 16. Now you multiply 16 and the 40 minutes which gives you 640 copies.
