also, remember that \sqrt{\frac{a}{b}}=\frac{\sqrt{a}}{\sqrt{b}}

so
assuming you mean x^2=\frac{16}{49}
square root both sides
x=\sqrt{\frac{16}{49}}
x=\frac{\sqrt{16}}{\sqrt{49}}
x=\frac{4}{7}

Take the square root of x, 16, and 49

x^2= x * x
16= 4 * 4
49= 7 * 7
