Answer

A rapid improvement in standard of living can mean rapid economic growth with increased population in towns resulting to damaged environment in form of pollution.

Explanation

When the standard of living is associated with rapid growth of the economy, a common scenario is migration of people to urban areas to work and operate businesses. The urban areas will experience increased populations with inadequate housing. The environment will be suppressed because more forests will be cleared to give out spaces for new housing projects. In addition to that, the pollution levels will increase because more wastes will be generated.

A large area of the earth's crust will go through a downwarping process that creates a(n) basin. Downwarp is a broad depression of the earth's surface. Basins resemble synclines, but the beds dip uniformly in all directions toward the center of the structure. They are caused by downwarping.
