Both the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen speak of "unalienable rights" of human beings -- natural rights that cannot be taken away from them.  Both declarations drew upon the views of Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke.

The Declaration of Independence (1776), written by Thomas Jefferson for the American colonists, contained these famous words:  "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,"

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (France, 1789) opened with these words:  "The representatives of the French people, organized as a National Assembly, believing that the ignorance, neglect, or contempt of the rights of man are the sole cause of public calamities and of the corruption of governments, have determined to set forth in a solemn declaration the natural, unalienable, and sacred rights of man, in order that this declaration, being constantly before all the members of the Social body, shall remind them continually of their rights and duties."

Both the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen got their ideas about natural rights from philosophers of the Enlightenment, such as John Locke (1632-1704).  Locke strongly argued that all human beings have certain natural rights which are to be protected and preserved.    Locke's ideal was one that promoted individual freedom and equal rights and opportunity for all.  Each individual's well-being (life, health, liberty, possessions) should be served by the way government and society are arranged.   The American founding fathers and the French Revolution's leaders accepted the views of Locke and other Enlightenment thinkers and acted on them.

The Inca empire was 772,204 square miles and includes 5 modern day countries. The Aztec empire was about 117,501 square miles and includes only Mexico itself. Documentation was also done differently. Inca used quipus, wool and string tied up. The Aztecs used a codex, similar to what other people had already used such as animal hide or a sought of bark paper.

In favor:

I agree that we should raise taxes on the wealthiest people in the country because they can afford to pay them. Their lifestyle won't be affected too much compared to someone who is struggling to put food on the table, pay rent, or pay for health insurance. Wealthy Americans take advantage of various infrastructure everyday and possibly don't realize it, so it makes sense to have them pay their fair share. With the wealthy contributing more, it gives the lower class workers a more fair share to get a better foot hold and have a higher standard of living. The more people with a higher standard of living, the better the country off is as a whole.

Against:

I don't agree that we should raise taxes on wealthy Americans. Higher taxes discourages people from earning money since those in a higher tax bracket are going to pay a higher rate. This unintended consequence pushes people to stay in a lower bracket and not earn their full potential. Also, higher taxes chases people away to lower/no tax locations. In a sense, it's like pursuing the path of least resistance. Even if the tax money was collected, it is likely to be spent in places where it shouldn't possibly due to corruption or incompetence.

First, they imported a LOT of food from other parts of the empire. Rome is now built on the remains of Roman food packaging material: broken up pottery. Romans mainly lived on what is know as the mediterranean triangle: Wheat, wine and olive oil. Bread made up 70 to 80% of most of the Romans diet. Three kinds of food that are pretty easy to transport over longer distances. There were huge imports of grain from north Africa and Egypt. Rome lived on that grain. Wine and olive oil came from almost everywhere.
