Three potential employees took an aptitude test. Each person took a different version of the test. The scores are reported below

. Tobias got a score of 74.7; this version has a mean of 61.7 and a standard deviation of 13. Norma got a score of 351; this version has a mean of 291 and a standard deviation of 25. Vincent got a score of 7.38; this version has a mean of 6.9 and a standard deviation of 0.4. If the company has only one position to fill and prefers to fill it with the applicant who performed best on the aptitude test, which of the applicants should be offered the job?

Answer:

Norma performed best on the aptitude test and should be offered the job.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that three potential employees took an aptitude test. Each person took a different version of the test. The scores are reported below.

Now, to find which of the applicants should be offered the job, we have to find the z-score of each of the applicants, and the one who gets the highest z-score will get the job.

The z-score probability distribution for the normal distribution is given by;

                            Z = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}  ~ N(0,1)

where, \mu = mean and \sigma = standard deviation

Firstly, we will find the z-score for Tobias;

The z-score of 74.7 = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}

                                 = \frac{74.7-61.7}{13} = 1

Now, we will find the z-score for Norma;

The z-score of 351 = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}

                               = \frac{351-291}{25} = 2.4

Now, we will find the z-score for Vincent;

The z-score of 7.38 = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}

                                 = \frac{7.38-6.9}{0.4} = 1.2

As we can clearly see that the z-score is highest for Norma which means that Norma performed best on the aptitude test and should be offered the job.

The weights of adult male birds of a certain species are normally distributed with a mean of 27.5 grams and a standard deviation
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

The z-score of a male bird of this species with a weight of 29.37 grams is 1.7.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the weights of adult male birds of a certain species are normally distributed with a mean of 27.5 grams and a standard deviation of 1.1 grams.

<u><em>Let X = weights of adult male birds of a certain species</em></u>

So, X ~ Normal(\mu=27.5,\sigma^{2} =1.1^{2})

The z score probability distribution for normal distribution is given by;

                                 Z = \frac{ X-\mu}{\sigma } }  ~ N(0,1)

where, \mu = population mean weight = 27.5 grams

           \sigma = standard deviation = 1.1 grams

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is away from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value (area) associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X.

SO, the z-score of a male bird of this species with a weight of 29.37 grams is given by;

          <u>Z score</u> =  \frac{ X-\mu}{\sigma } } = \frac{ 29.37-27.5}{1.1 } }

                                    =  <u>1.7</u>

In the following figure find a deg,2adeg and bdeg
vampirchik [111]
From the figure. a and b are equal because the lines are parallel. The jargon is alternate interior angles are equal.

The two remote interior angles are equal to the exterior angle. That interprets to
b + 2a = 84o But b = a
a + 2a = 84o
3a = 84
a = 84/3
a = 28 <<<< answer
b = 28 <<<< answer
2a = 56 <<<< answer.

PKEASE HELP Based on the graph, what is one solution of the equation f(x) = g(x)? graph of function f of x equals negative x plu
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

x=1

x=-5

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The solution of the system of equations is the intersection point both graphs

In this problem there are two intersection points

so

The system has two solutions

we have

one solution is the point (-4.9, 5.4) and the other (0.92, -0.42)

see the attached figure

therefore

x=1

x=-5
