3x - 5 = 10 or 3 × 5 - 5 = 10

y ÷ x - 4 = 14 or 36 ÷ 2 - 4 = 14

2) 3x-5=10
You add 5 on both sides, so that the fives cancels.
3x-5=10
+5 +5
That leaves you with
3x=15
Then you have to get the x alone. You divide the three on both sides.
3x/3=15/3
The threes cancel out, so you now have
x=5

3) x
— -4=14
3
On this one you need to add 4 on both sides to cancel it out.
+4 +4
Since you just canceled the 4’s out that makes the equation...
X
— =18
3
Now you want to get x alone so you have to find a way to cancel the threes out. You times the three to the x/3.
3 X
— =18
3
What you do to one side you have to do to the other.
3 X
— =18x3
3
That leaves you with...
X=54

Hope this helped. Sorry if I’m late

Find the complex fourth roots \[-\sqrt{3}+\iota \] in polar form.
____ [38]

Let z=-\sqrt3+i. Then

|z|=\sqrt{(-\sqrt3)^2+1^2}=2

z lies in the second quadrant, so

\arg z=\pi+\tan^{-1}\left(-\dfrac1{\sqrt3}\right)=\dfrac{5\pi}6

So we have

z=2e^{i5\pi/6}

and the fourth roots of z are

2^{1/4}e^{i(5\pi/6+k\pi)/4}

where k\in\{0,1,2,3\}. In particular, they are

2^{1/4}e^{i(5\pi/6)/4}=2^{1/4}e^{i5\pi/24}

2^{1/4}e^{i(5\pi/6+2\pi)/4}=2^{1/4}e^{i17\pi/24}

2^{1/4}e^{i(5\pi/6+4\pi)/4}=2^{1/4}e^{i29\pi/24}

2^{1/4}e^{i(5\pi/6+6\pi)/4}=2^{1/4}e^{i41\pi/24}
