A. one question i’m often asked, by both students and parents, is “why did you decide to become a teacher?” i wish i could figur

e out a simple answer to this seemingly simple question, but the truth is, i’m not quite sure myself. there are many reasons why teaching is a great choice for a profession, but there are also many reasons why this job is not for everyone. if you are seriously considering becoming a teacher for a career, then it’s probably a good idea for you to consider some of the pros and cons of this particular job. ii. the cons of teaching:
a. low salaries: everyone knows—teachers do not make a great deal of money. not only is teacher pay relatively low compared to other professions, it also does not get much better over time. a teacher who has been working twenty-five years doesn’t make substantially more than a teacher who’s only been in the profession for three years. what is the best way to summarize section a in part ii, "the cons of teaching?"
a. the biggest drawback to teaching is the low pay.
b. veteran teachers and new teachers practically earn the same salary.
c. it is obvious to most people that teachers do not make a lot of money.
d. a low salary is one of the cons of teaching, even for experienced teachers.

Answer:

d. a low salary is one of the cons of teaching, even for experienced teachers.

Explanation:

The best way to summarize this part of the section is to state that a low salary is one of the cons of teaching and that this is also true for experienced teachers. The section talks about how pay is low and continues to be low no matter how long you have been teaching. This is an important part to include. It is also good to put that low pay is a con becuase it makes it more clear what the author is arguing.

Choose the matching analogy bacon:pigs. A) metal:clouds (b) paper:trees (c) cows:butter (d) wood:leaves
Westkost [7]

Answer:

B and C

Explanation:

The analogy bacon:pigs shows a comparison between pigs, a source, and bacon, a product derived from pigs.

A) The analogy metal:clouds doesn't show this comparison. Neither is a product of the other.

B) The analogy paper:trees shows this comparison because paper is a product derived from trees, a source.

C) The analogy cows:butter, shows a comparison of cows, a source and butter, a product derived from cows.

D) The analogy wood:leaves doesn't show this relationship. Neither is a product of the other.

Therefore, the matching analogies are B and C.

I hope this helps!
