We are talking about the relationship between the town of Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina.

Before the University was built, in the late 1700s, the people of this quiet town attended the church that was at the top of the hill. It was called the New Hope Chapel. In 1793, the University established in that place. So the University and the town grew together. The town of Chapel Hill was chartered in 1851, and the first major was elected in 1895. But as time went by, it was once was a small quiet town that transformed itself on a big campus with students from all over the country and many students from different parts of the world. This combination of many ethnicities, races, cultures, and nationalities, have transformed Chapel Hill in a modern college town. Citizens also benefit from the expansion of the University and although there are some urbanization problems, the University and people from the town have learned to get along well.
