Pinchback's first involvement with politics in Louisiana was a state delegate in the <span>constitutional convention that created the first constitution in the state. </span><span>Later, he became a state senator. </span> <span>He became the first black governor in Lousiana who passed 10 legislative bills on a short term. </span><span> </span><span>One of his legislative bills founded the Southern University and earned protest in New Orleans Creole. </span><span> </span>
