What is one advantage of using an image of an ordinary-looking person sitting in a jail cell on an anti-drunk driving poster? Th

e image shows that only people with prison records drive under the influence of alcohol. The image indicates that only the people in prison are those who drive drunk. The image strongly suggests that those who drive drunk may end up serving time in prison. The image powerfully demonstrates that even people in prison know not to drive drunk.

Answer: The correct option is the third one: THE IMAGE STRONGLY SUGGESTS THAT THOSE WHO DRIVE DRUNK MAY END UP SERVING TIME IN PRISON.

Explanation:

The correct option is the third one: THE IMAGE STRONGLY SUGGESTS THAT THOSE WHO DRIVE DRUNK MAY END UP SERVING TIME IN PRISON. The explanation involves the PICTORIAL LANGUAGE, which is a form of “writing” that uses, among other things, drawings. Posters are one way through which we can communicate some messages with each other without pronouncing oral words. At this respect we have to think in two moments:

1. When the man saw the poster: The images make sense to him and sent him a specific message; probably it was don’t drink.

2. When the viewer sees the complete image: If we see it we can think that the man inside the picture is in jail because of his actions related to drinking and driving, which send us the message that those who drive drunk may end up serving time in prison. As we can see it is not a generalization, but it can apply to take the context into account.

The other three options cannot be true due to different reasons:

 • FIRST OPTION: The image shows that only people with prison records drive under the influence of alcohol.

This option doesn’t make sense due to graphically we have no evidence related to driving, so we can’t run into that conclusion.

 • SECOND OPTION: The image indicates that only the people in prison are those who drive drunk.

Appealing to common sense we can say that people in jail cannot drive because they don’t have freedom; also making that generalization is not operable.

 • FOURTH OPTION: The image powerfully demonstrates that even people in prison know not to drive drunk.

In this case, the generalization works in a different way, but it doesn’t make it right because don’t know if all people that are in jail, in fact, know that it is not cool to drive under alcoholic substances’ effects.

Conclusions related to historical events are limited to subjective evaluation of the existing evidence. TRUE or FALSE.
Dmitry [639]
I believe the answer to this is "true." Really, all conclusions on all events are subjective. But considering history, conclusions on events are especially prone to subjectivity. Consider who writes the history books. If one country wins a war against another country, they will write about themselves as the noble party and portray the enemy as villainous. However, this may not be the real case. This occurs much more than we think, and we must research different events to make sure we are not blindly buying into what people say. Hope this helps.

According to the dictionary, squawks do not mean the same thing as squeaks. does this sentence need any revision?
Svetlanka [38]
It might be clearer to say: According to the dictionary, a squawk is not the same thing as a squeak. there's no need for them to be plural in your sentence and it's likely that, in the dictionary, they're listed as "squeak" and "squawk" singularly. when describing dictionary definitions it's best to use the form of the word that the dictionary uses for clarity.
