<u>Ogodei </u>was Genghis Khan's <u>third son</u> and was known for expanding his father's conquest to Southern China and Eastern Europe.

When Gengis Khan died in 1227, Ogodei was appointed two years later as the <u>successor </u>and dedicated himself to consolidate and further his father's conquests. He died in 1241.

Genghis Khan's immediate successor was Ogodei Khan. It's a tradition in the past that the heir will fall to the firstborn child. Ogodei Khan was the first rightful heir of the Genghis Khan's Throne
