Read the following paragraphs and write an original topic sentence for each one?

English
1 answer:
Ganezh [65]2 years ago
8 0

For the first paragraph The topic sentence will be: Description of my pet guinea pig Scamp.

For the second paragraph the topic sentence will be: Acheivements of a 2 year old baby.

Explanation:

I will give the above original topic sentence to the first paragraph, as it talks about how the guinea pig Scamp is warm and furry, what his color is, how his hair looks, how his feet appear.

All this are a detailed description of the guinea pig. It also shows the love and affection the narrator feels for his pet.

With respect to the second paragraph, my topic sentence refers to the achievements that a baby makes .

Children in this age start differentiating between who family members are, whether the pets are part of the family, who their parents are etc .

They realize what their likes and dislikes are. And as all babies at that age look similar, its difficult for them to differentiate whether they are looking at themselves when they look at a picture, or some other random baby.

Describe the change in personality that the narrator has undergone the great gatsby
olga_2 [115]
In the beginning of "The Great Gatsby", Nick brags that he is not at all judgmental and is able to understand where people are coming from. This leads him to trusting people and thinking the best of them. By the end of the novel, after he has had so many uncomfortable and unfortunate experiences tangled up in the lives of Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, Jordan, etc, Nick finds himself to be very judgmental of their lifestyle and personalities, especially the Buchanans. He removes himself from their company and becomes more reserved, less trusting.

Read "Riches" by Sara Teasdale. Which two lines in the poem contain metaphors? I have no riches but my thoughts, Yet these are w
Citrus2011 [14]

The lines that contain metaphors are:

1)“My thoughts of you are golden coins”

2) “Stamped in the mint of memory”

A metaphor is a literary device that makes an implicit comparison between unrelated items or ideas. Despite of the fact that they seem to differ in many respects, there is a hidden connection between them. It differs from others figures of speech; namely Simile as it refers to an explicit comparison (use of “like” or “as”) that is established between to ideas or items.

In this particular poem, the author says that her thought is a very valuable treasure to her, especially because they are related to a special person to her. For this reason, the author makes a comparison between her thoughts and the treasured golden coins. Then, she continues adding another metaphor. She says that these precious memories will never disappear as they kept in her memory as golden coins are safe and properly stored in a mint.
