You are constructing a metal border of uniform width for a rectangular wall mirror that measures 20 inches by 24 inches. You hav
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

The frame will be 4 inches in width

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of the outside is 24+2x

The width of the outside is 20+2x

(24+2x)(20+2x) - 20(24) = 416

480 + 40x + 48x + 4x2 - 480 = 416

4x2 + 88x - 416 = 0

x2 + 22x - 104 = 0

(x+26)(x-4) = 0

x = -26 or x=4

The frame will be 4 inches in width

Can someone help me please
Vesna [10]

Answer:

#5) Its line “k”

Well to solve this you need to know what negative slopes are.

They decrease from height from left to right

And also a slope is always calculated like this

rise -> run

Think of it like a bed.

You have to wake up which means you have to rise and then you run to do whatever it is you gotta do.

Rise is going vertical and run is going horizontal.

So for line K you have it because since its negative its -3/1 so technically its -3 rise(basically fall since its negative), 1 run (right).

#6) 1/2  is the slope of line N. Or (c)

Well n is a potsive slope so we can automatically remove a and b.

And we can count like this, it started from the orgin it looks like (but you can use any given point really) and then just follow it, rise 1 and run 2. Rise 2 and run 3 doesn’t work so it has to be 1.2 or (c)

Find the midpoint of the line segment with end coordinates of: ( 4 , − 2 ) and ( 2 , − 10
Olegator [25]

The given line segment's midpoint is  (3,-6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 :

Let A be the point (4,-2) and B be the point (2,-10)

We need to obtain the midpoint of AB

Let M (x,y) be the Midpoint.

Step 2 :

The x co-ordinate of a line segment's midpoint obtained by adding the x co-ordinate of its end point and dividing by 2.

The y co-ordinate of a line segment's midpoint obtained by adding the y co-ordinate of its end point and dividing by 2.

So we have x = (4 + 2) ÷ 2 = 3

y = (-2 - 10) ÷ 2 = -6

Hence M = (3,-6)

Step 3 :

Answer :

The given line segment's midpoint is  (3,-6)

Given the functions below, what is f(x)−g(x) ?
amid [387]

Answer:

f(x)-g(x)=5x^3-17x^2+4 which appears as option A

Step-by-step explanation:

Simply subtract the function's expressions as shown below, and combine like terms to express the final result:

f(x)=7x^3-10x^2-5\\g(x)=2x^3+7x^2-9\\f(x)-g(x)=7x^3-10x^2-5-[2x^3+7x^2-9]\\f(x)-g(x)=7x^3-10x^2-5-2x^3-7x^2+9\\f(x)-g(x)=7x^3-2x^3-10x^2-7x^2-5+9\\f(x)-g(x)=5x^3-17x^2+4
