Who are the leading video artists and why is their work interesting?
Vsevolod [243]
There are a lot of notable video artists today. A few examples include Christian Marclay, Pipilotti Rist, and Cory Archangel. They are widely known for their creative use of video art such as in the case of Christian's most popular work The Clock, a 24-hour video consisted of film snippets that refer to the actual time they were played. More often, video artists, such as Pipilotti Rist voice out their opinion about issues like gender and sexuality through their work. Others like Cory Archangel use their art to collect and preserve memories. Cory's most interesting piece is the Super Mario Clouds where he hacked the famous Nintendo game to make his art, while Pipilotti Rist's masterpiece is Ever is Over All.

What was he benefit of a calotype over a daguerreotype?
laila [671]
The calotype process produced a translucent original negative image from which multiple positives could be made by simple contact printing. This gave it an important advantage over the daguerreotype process, which produced an opaque original positive that could only be duplicated by copying it with a camera. The use of paper as a negative meant that the texture and fibers of the paper were visible in prints made from it, leading to an image that was slightly grainy or fuzzy compared to daguerreotypes, which were usually sharp and clear. In the 1850s calotypes were replaced by the far more precise although cumbersome collodion process that used glass plates as negatives.
