What helps exploding pods disperse

Biology

Pods of certain plants such as gorse and pansies have a way of flinging their seeds when ripe in every direction with considerable force. The thing that helps these seeds disperse is first and foremost the mechanical force itself used to catapult the seeds.

As they ripen, the seed pods gradually lose moisture, building up tension in their cells and subsequently in the pod as a whole. The structure inevitably fails gradually and during a hot day it gives way altogether due to heat stress and triggers an explosion firing the seeds with appreciable force away from the parent plant almost like a projectile for up to 100m (300 ft) away.

It is important to note that plants which use this explosive method or ballistic dispersal as it is also called tend to have seeds that are generally large and too heavy to be carried by the wind unlike those of plants such as dandelions which are light enough for wind dispersal. Therefore gorse and suchlike plants employ ballistic methods to ensure their seeds travel as far away from the parent plant as possible.

matrenka [14]

Answer and explanation:

Epinephrine and norepinephrine are two hormones that are released from the adrenal medulla when the body is under stress (like during exercise, for example) as a part of the sympathetic response.

These hormones have many functions and they all work together to prepare the individual for a fight or flight response - like increasing heart rate and producing bronchodilatation. One of these functions is the rise of glucose levels in blood which is important for this substance to reach several tissues, like the skeletal muscle. The skeletal muscle will make use of this glucose to produce ATP and generate the required energy for muscle contraction through a process called glycolysis, which is key for the fight or flight response mentioned above.

When we exercise, glucose levels rise thanks to these hormones so the skeletal muscle can have enough energy to contract and move as we want. If the exercise is too intense or prolongued, glucose levels will drop and other fuels will be needed to sustain this activity, like stored glycogen and fat.

Alex_Xolod [135]

During a myocardial infarction, proteins that are normally inside the cells leak into the plasma, due to loss of plasma membrane integrity.

Cardiac disorders and it's effects:

There are different types of cardiac or heart disorders that occurs due to different etiological origins.

Example of a cardiac disorder is the myocardial infarction.

Myocardial infarction is defined as the blockage of blood flow to the heart by the presence of blood clot.

This hinders the delivery of oxygen carried by the blood to tissue cells leading to apoptosis (which is a programmed cell death).

This will cause the plasma membrane of cells to lose its integrity leading to leaking of proteins into the plasma.
