I know that in the U.S.A. we have three branches of government. The legislative, judicial, and executive. I think the main reason why we have them is because we cant just have one person deciding the laws, it needs to be approved by many people. Congress can even pass a law if the president veto's it!

The answer depends on whose side you were on. The crusades were a time of much death, hardships and poverty on all sides as in all wars.
In Europe, most of the important people across the lands joined the crusades and travelled to the middle east to fight and "reclaim the holy land". Due to this large exodus, much of the wealth went with it, never to return and Europe became more lawless and poverty-stricken as a result.

Manifest Destiny was the belief that America should expand all over the North American continent as it was their divine destiny to remove Native Americans and other nations from their continent. Gallatin believed that this was only to show everyone the supremacy of the American nation.
