LABOR: Theodore Roosevelt believed that his intervention was justified when labor-management disputes threatened the public interest. In a time where many workers were joining Unions and proposing reforms, Roosevelt enacted the <em>open shop</em> (place of employment at which one is not required to support an union in order to hire) as official government policy.

CONSERVATION: President Roosevelt was an outstanding conservationist, looking to protect the environment and benefit the whole society from the US's natural resources. He created the United States Forest Service and conserved millions of acres as national forests.
