Defecation depends on

Biology
1 answer:
ASHA 777 [7]4 years ago

Answer: the correct answer is d. all of the above must happen for defecation to occur.

Explanation:

In response to the distention of the rectal wall, the receptors send sensory nerve impulses to the sacral spinal cord. Motor impulses from the cord travel along parasympathetic nerves back to the descending colon, sigmoid colon, rectum, and anus. The resulting contraction of the longitudinal rectal muscles shortens the rectum, thereby increasing the pressure within it. This then opens the internal sphincter.

14. Pat and Tracy each have a sibling who has the recessive trait of sickle cell disorder. Neither Pat. Tracy or
Nady [450]

Answer:

Since sickle cell disease is a disorder with an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern, and in light of the lack of data, it could be said that the only way for Pat and Tracy to have a child with sickle cell disease is for both of them to be healthy carriers of the gene, with a 25% probability.

Explanation:

Considering that both Pat and Tracy each have a sibling with a sickle cell trait and that both they and their parents are healthy, it must be assumed that some of their parents are healthy carriers:

  1. Pat and Tracy do not have sickle cell trait. In this case, there is no chance that they will have a child with sickle cell disease.
  2. Either Pat or Tracy has the trait, but the other does not. It is possible that at least one of their children is a healthy carrier.
  3. If both Tracy and Pat have sickle cell trait, the chances of having a child with sickle cell disease are:

Alelles R r

R RR Rr

r Rr rr

RR: healthy (25%).

Rr: healthy carrier (50%).

rr: sickle cell disease (25%).

If Pat and Tracy are healthy carriers of the gene that determines sickle cell disease, the chance of having a child with the disease is 25%.

Which of these actions isn’t part of your body’s homeostasis?
S_A_V [24]
B. smiling when you are happy

This is not an action that is controlled by the process of homeostasis in the body. Homeostasis is the process which is responsible for regulating the the internal environment of the body.
for instance, you go to the bathroom when your kidneys want to eliminate excess water and other substances.
Your lungs need more air when you are exercising so homeostasis is responsible of seeing that you get enough of it.
and sweating when you are hot to remove excess heat from your body via sweat.
These are all involuntary actions controlled by the process of homeostasis.
Smiling is a voluntary action. you do not need to smile. and you can whenever you like and not when you don't.
