Stephen Fuller Austin carried out the Texas venture plans.

He was born in 1793 in southwestern Virginia and was son of Moses, a leader in establishing mining and manufacturing in the United States.

In 1819, an economic crisis wiped out his family's wealth, making them look for other business opportunities. Meanwhile, his father developed a <u>new venture</u>, a plan to s<u>ettle American colonists in Spanish Texas</u>. Moses won approval from the spanish governor in Texas to bring his colonists, however, he died on his way out of Texas. His last wish was that <u>his son carried on the Texas venture. </u>

<u>Stephan was true to his father wishes</u> and negotiated with the spanish governor the details of the proposed colony, which made it possible for <u>colonists to arrive to Texas in 1821.</u>

How did the peace at the westphalia after the thirty year war provide the foundation of statehood
kherson [118]

The Peace of Westphalia, concluded in 1648 in Münster (Germany), ended the Thirty Years War, which started with an anti-Habsburg revolt in Bohemia in 1618 but became an entanglement of different conflicts concerning the constitution of the Holy Roman Empire, religion, and the state system of Europe.

What is the history of the Ku Klux Klan?
mr Goodwill [35]

The Ku Klux Klan began in 1866 in Tennessee as an organization of Confederate veterans of the Civil War.  They derived the name "Ku Klux" from the Greek word κύκλος (<em>kuklos) ,</em> which means circle.  The group became a resistance movement against radical Reconstruction in the South, seeking to intimidate blacks and restore white supremacy.  The group carried out many acts of extreme violence, and acts in Congress and a decision by the Supreme Court <em>(United States v. Harris, </em>1882) went against the Klan.  By that time, though, the Klan had mostly stopped operating because it had pretty much achieved its goal:  white dominance in the South.

A revived version of the Klan appeared again beginning in 1915, expanding its target beyond blacks to Jews and others.  At its height in the 1920s, this revived version of the Ku Klux Klan had more than 4 million members.  Today it is a fringe group in the US, with only a few thousand members.

Explain the relationship between the Cold War and Americans everyday lives. Cite evidence from the text in your response
d1i1m1o1n [39]

The Cold War had a tremendous impact on the everyday lives of Americans. For example, students in public schools during the 1950's often had to practice "Duck and Cover" drills. These drills forced students to cover their head with their hands and to hide underneath desks. One of the reasons students practiced these drills was in case nuclear warfare between the United States and Soviet Union took place.

In the aforementioned scenario, students would be ducking and covering to protect themselves from the effects of a nuclear attack. This type of drill showed the Americans were constantly in fear of what might happen next between the US and the Soviet Union.
