The correct answer is B) using contextualization.

The historian's conclusion is an example of using contextualization.

As we see in the example, the historian is in learning the use Romans did of the ancient Roman Colosseum. This was a kind of today arena where trained fighters battled one another for amuse people and entertainment.  The participants were gladiators, slaves who were forced to fight to the death with other people and even wild animals. So the historian can't understand how any person would enjoy or even tolerate watching such things. He concludes that ancient Roman culture must have been significantly more tolerant of violence and slavery than modern American culture. He reached this conclusion by using contextualization, which means, having contemplated all the circumstances and factors that surround the moment in history.

Which excerpt from Chesterton’s essay best expresses what St. Thomas Aquinas taught about modification?
Archy [21]

Answer:

B.

Explanation:

"Things change because they are not complete; but their reality can only be explained as part of something that is complete. It is God."

Rememeber that Aquinas (as most of medieval philosophers) was influenced by Greek philosophers, especially Plato and Aristotle. To better understand why this quote better epxlain Aquina point of view we must remember the Aristotelian natural theology in which Aristotle expose his point of view about God as "the unmoved mover".

The "unmoved mover" concept is very interesting because in it God is not only the creator of all (as we commonly know from the bible), but it is also part of it all:

All that exist´s is created from God; but since all is created from him, everything that exist´s is a part of him, and the whole universe is no other thing than him, fragmented throughout the universe.
