Meat such as bacon, and generally pork, can be a great source of B12 vitamin that helps you metabolize food, as well as Iron and Zync, which can help you in healing and recuperating.
I actually have that problem. I have 20/40 vision and my left eye is pretty much blind. I was prescribed glasses so that my sight in my left eye would not get worse. All to say, I would consider glasses to be necessary in this case. It definitely helps in every day life.

My guess would be stretching in the leg she wants to improve. I have done this many times and stretching would be the best way.
You can go into a split and then lean as far forward as you can.
Another one is to when in the split grab your toes and pull up,stretching near the actual foot which then gives you more of a chance to lift your leg higher.
