For D

subtract $25 from $425 you will be left with $400 that is the total with out the addition $25 in which Gavin earned more of.

You are now left with $400 for both Gavin and Seiji
because they are 2 in number divide the money by 2 which will give you $200 each, then add Gavin's extra $25.

Gavin earned $225
and Seiji earned $200

A) Amount of money earned by seji = s
    Amount of money earned by Gavin = g
   So, equation would be:  s+g = 425

B) Solving the system: s+g = 425
        we know, g = s+25
     Substitute it into the equation:
      s+s+25 = 425
      2s = 400
      s = 200
     so, g = 200+25 = 225

C) Graph for the equation, Mark (s,g) = (200,225) then, draw the line from the  origin.

D) Seiji earned = $200
    Gavin earned = $225   [ Solved in B part ]

Hope this helps!

Find the points at which the graph of the equation -4y=15-5x crossed the x- axis and the y - axis.
Lynna [10]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Where the graph crosses the x- axis the y- coordinate is zero.

Let y = 0 in the equation and solve for x

- 4(0) = 15 - 5x, that is

15 - 5x = 0 ( subtract 15 from both sides )

- 5x = - 15 ( divide both sides by - 5 )

x = 3 ← x- intercept ⇒ (3, 0 )

Where the graph crosses the y- axis the x- coordinate is zero.

Let x = 0 in the equation and solve for y

- 4y = 15 - 5(0), that is

- 4y = 15 ( divide both sides by - 4 )

y = - \frac{15}{4} ← y- intercept ⇒ (0, - \frac{15}{4})

A cable 19 m long runs from the top of a utility pole to a point on the ground 10 m from the base of the pole. How tall is the u
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

16.2 m

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we can draw a picture. The cable goes from the top of the pole to the ground (with the pole on the right in my drawing), and the point on the ground is 10 m away from the base of the pole. This forms a right triangle, with the right angle being between the 10 m distance and the pole itself. We can then apply the Pythagorean Theorem, so

a²+b²=c², with c being the side opposite the right angle (the cable), getting us

10²+(length of pole)² = 19²

19²-10²=(length of pole)²

= 261

square root both sides to isolate the length of the pole

length of pole ≈ 16.2 m
