The mudflows occur mostly because because of enormous amounts of rainfall, and occasionally they occur near volcanoes. The lahar represents a violent type of mudflow. It is composed of a slurry of pyroclastic material, water and rocky debris. The material flows down from a volcano, usually along a river valley. This type of mudflow is extremely dangerous, and it manages to cause a lot of damage as there's hardly anything that can stop it or resist its force.
