Why do cultures want to preserve their language?

Advanced Placement (AP)

Each language is important since they enable people to communicate and express themselves. When one dies out, future generations won't be able to understand that culture as they lost one vital part: language. This is why so many cultures want to preserve their language, as it is a vulnerable aspect of cultural heritage. However, despite efforts, a language dies out every two weeks.

Ira Lisetskai [31]

Answer:

A. Keep it, because it uses descriptive language to convey the writer’s perspective on advances in robotics and set up the topic of the passage.

Explanation:

Answer A

Correct. The underlined text uses descriptive adjectives and adverbs to describe today’s robots and the way they interact with humans. This descriptive language helps to convey the writer’s perspective on advances in robotics and also sets up the topic of the passage, which is how humans and robots interact. Therefore, the writer should keep the underlined text.

VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

Explanation:The Economic Issues series aims to make available to a broad readership of nonspecialists some of the economic research being produced in the International Monetary Fund on topical issues. The raw material of the series is drawn mainly from IMF Working Papers, technical papers produced by Fund staff members and visiting scholars, as well as from policy-related research papers. This material is refined for the general readership by editing and partial redrafting.

The following paper draws on material originally contained in IMF Working Paper 97/42, "Deindustrialization: Causes and Implications," by Robert Rowthorn, Professor of Economics, Cambridge University, and Ramana Ramaswamy of the IMF’s Research Department. Neil Wilson prepared the present version. Readers interested in the original Working Paper may purchase a copy from IMF Publication Services
