History

Africa has an enormous amount of natural resources, such as diamonds, gold, iron, uranium, wood and other goods like fruits and more.

When European nations lost the American colonies around the 18th and 19th centuries, they were looking for other territories to restore their sources of raw materials and cheap work force, thus West and North Africa with the abundance of minerals and other natural resources was their answer.

Nations like France needed to enhance their economy and recover from the great depression at that time, reason why they clashed against the British in West Africa; and European missionaries supported the idea believing imperialism would create the conditions for missionary activity since they believed themselves superior to African cultures, then entitlement and pride also pushed them towards it.

Describe how Archimedes reacted to the reality of wartime in the Sand Reckoner?
snow_lady [41]
Archimedes made practical inventions which enabled the Syracusans to fend off the Roman siege. He protected the city by his inventions, for example, he invented a huge crane operated hook " the claw of Archimedes" that could be able to lift enemy ships out of the sea. Legends tell that he also invented a way to make Roman ships to catch fire by reflection and focusing of light of the sun on their ships by use of a large mirror. A combination of this and onages and ballstats on the city walls made it difficult for Romans that forced them to apply direct assault which was expensive or the Romans.
