Why did President Truman decide to use atomic bombs against Japan in 1945?
sleet_krkn [62]
President Truman decided to use the bomb for many reasons. Having not knowledge about the existence of the bomb until his presidency, he saw it as a new weapon developed by the US and that should be used for that purpose. Secondly, Truman wanted to avoid an invasion of Japan because it would be extremely costly, difficult, and simply horrible. It also meant the loss of many more American lives since the Japanese attacks were so brutal. Truman hoped that the use of the bomb would and it's astonishing effects would be enough for Japan to surrender and they would not have to invade them. Lastly, Truman wanted to use it to show the soviets of it's power for post world war II policies. I personally believe that Truman did the right thing. It was evident in all the battles in the pacific that Japan was extremely stubborn and would do anything but admit defeat. Just taking over the underpopulated islands on the way to Japan was very difficult because of the Japanese's tireless efforts. I think that the only way to make them surrender was to scare them into a surrender. The back and forth combat wasn't completely useless but exhausting and would make the war last longer than needed. The Japanese were so focused on fighting and trying to harm us, that they trained their soldiers to die in the desperate kamikaze attacks. I really don't think that invading their homeland would lead to a surrender or end to the war. Not only would they not surrender, but many american lives would be lost in the process unnecessarily. The bomb was ready, and functional.

1. The documentary begins with a news headline announcing what? 2. Where was Carmen Miranda born? Portugal 3. Brazil received ma
Aneli [31]

Answer and Explanation:

1. You did not inform the document to which the question refers, but in view of the other questions we can infer that the documentary announces the life of Carmen Miranda.

2. Carmen Miranda was born in Portugual, but was raised in Brazil, a place she considered her true homeland.

3. During the 20th century, Brazil received immigrants from all over the world, but mainly from Europe, the Middle East and Japan.

4. Carmem Miranda grew up listening to popular Brazilian music like samba and bossa nova.

5. Carmen Miranda had the ability to incorporate all popular Brazilian rhythms and maintain the characteristics of Brazil in a commercial and completely international music. She was able to convey the joy, rhythm and animation of the Brazilian people in a very genuine, correct and respectable way.

6. She wore a flowing dress and a fruit-hat turban. This can be considered cultural appropriation because it is a traditional clothing worn by black women in Bahia, a Brazilian state. Carmen Miranda was neither Bahian nor black, but she was using something completely intrinsic to that culture.

7. She went to New York, where she performed on Broadway.

8. She said that she knew very little of the English language and that she could speak some 20 words, among them: money and hot-dog.

9. She stated that she was not "Americanized" and that she was still as Brazilian as anyone who was born in the country. She said that, because Brazilian criticism used to call her that, something she didn't like.

10. Carmen Miranda used to play roles of colorful, loud and loud Latin women that attracted a lot of attention. This can be problematic in two ways. Firstly, this reinforced stereotypes of Latin women, especially Brazilian women. Secondly, it limited her as an actress and hindered her from expanding the talent she possessed.

How might WW1 have affected future international relations?
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

World War I has aptly been called a war of illusions that exposed in sharp relief all the follies of the prewar generation. The war plans of the generals had misfired at once, and expectations that the intensity of modern firepower would serve the offense, or that the war must be brief, proved horribly false. Germany expected to achieve hegemony in Europe as a step toward world power, and instead world powers were called into play to prevent hegemony in Europe. Socialists thought war would bring general strikes and revolution, and instead the war inspired patriotic national unity. Monarchists hoped war would bolster the old regimes, and instead it cast down the remaining dynasties of eastern Europe.
