Islamic community falter when European nations started trading by sea because Islam faced huge loss in trade.

Islam mostly traded through the Mediterranean sea and the Indian ocean which helped it to become very powerful and established but when European countries started trading through the same route, there was a huge loss in the business and trade of Islam leading to the negative impact on it's economy where Europe started taking over the trade and started colonizing a lot of countries in the east therefore spreading it's trade and expanding business.
