Which statement describes the impact of ocean currents on climate? Ocean currents create changes in the temperature of air over

land masses. Ocean currents cause the temperature of air over large bodies of water to change. Ocean currents move cold water from the equator to the poles, creating cool weather regions. Ocean currents carry warm water from the poles to the equator to create warm weather regions.

The correct statement is - Ocean currents cause the temperature of air over large bodies of water to change.

The ocean currents are very important factor is the climate of a particular region. They manage to influence the air masses that form above them, so they can be warm and wet, or cold and dry, and that is very important climate-wise, especially for the islands and the coastal regions around the globe.

We can take the British Isles and Canada for example. Even though they are both at pretty much the same latitude, the British Isles have much lesser temperature variations, do not have extremes, and the climate is much more stable. The reason for that is the Gulf Current that is warm and wet, and it makes this region very wet, and the climate is much more moderate. Canada on the other side, is under the influence of cold currents, so it has very big variations in temperature, much less precipitation, and it is much colder.

LenaWriter [7]
The Central American Vegetation/Land Cover Classification and Conservation Status consists of GIS coverages of vegetation classes (forests, woodlands, savannas, shrubs, grasslands, wetlands, rocks, sand, soils, inland waters, parks and reserves) for Central America, derived from 1-kilometer resolution Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) imagery. This data set is produced by Proyecto Ambiental Regional de Centroamerica/Central America Protected Areas Systems (PROARCA/CAPAS), a conservation partnership of the Central American Commission on Environment and Development (CCAD), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), International Resources Group, Ltd. All regions possess all of the following except:A) absolute location
Tom [10]

Answer:

C) homogeneity

Explanation:

All regions possess all of these characteristics, except for homogeneity. Homogeneity is a characteristic that describes a great similarity among the units that compose a region. Moreover, it implies a greater similarity between these internal units than between its units and those of other regions. The aspects analyzed in order to judge these similarities are usually physical (climatic zones, botanic areas, etc.) or social (historical or cultural regions).

5. Which is not a major factor that influences the strength of a rock?
astraxan [27]

D. Rock type

Explanation:

The major factor that influences the strength of rocks is the rock type.

Different rock types are known to have their own relative strength.

Based on their strength, rocks are classified into hard and soft rocks.

Soft rock types are dominated by sedimentary rock. Sedimentary rocks are formed by accumulation and deposition of sediments. They are often layered.

Metamorphic and igneous rocks are usually classified as hard rocks. These rocks forms under very high temperature and pressure conditions.

In engineering applications, the soft rocks not desired for construction purposes although they have their own unique material functions.

Hard rocks are used for heavy duty and durable constructions like dams and bridges.
