The Peace of Westphalia ended the conflicts in the “Eight-Year War” and the religions conflicts in the region.  The peace treaties between Spain and the Dutch were negotiated since 1644 in the towns of Münster and Osnabrück and were formally signed on January 30, 1648. After these events, German-speaking land were fragmented as a result of the peace in Westphalia.
