B. One of your troop members began to cry.
It doesn't explain why he is crying, and is the most suspenseful, but one could argue it was C, because they could have going the wrong direction, but B is the most suspenseful due to the crying and emotion in it.
Hope this helps, even though I just debated aloud.

Answer:

B. One of the your troop members began to cry

Explanation:

In order to intesnify the suspense of the story you can add this sentence, one of your troop members began to cry, in order to intensify the suspense because you don´t know why is the member of the troop crying or feeling that way, to make him cry out of the blue. After this you can stop and do not even explain why is he crying, just leave it like that.

In Shirley Jackson's "The lottery", how does the author use Tessie's late arrival to help create suspense?
expeople1 [14]

The correct answer is "A".

It is previously known by the reader that all the villagers in town are gathering together for the traditional lottery which is celebrated every June 27. However, due to the small population in the town (only 300 people), there is an expectation for Tessie's arrival at the event, due to the fact that every resident is expected to participate. This is known when the person responsible for leading the event asks if there is anyone missing and she gets the immediate response that an individual named Dunbar is not there.

Julli [10]
On the train ride, Montag is trying to memorize Matthew 6:28, which instructs readers to forget about material possessions and to "consider the lilies of the field," beautiful blooms that grow wild on their own. His antagonist is an advertisement for Denham's dentifrice. The jingle in the ad is so abnoxious and incessant that it invades his thoughts and keeps him from being able to focus on anything meaningful.

When a question asks you to infer something from a passage, what is it asking you to do?
Pavel [41]

The answer is: figure out meaning based on what you already know and what the text says

To infer something from the passage, you need to read it and able to understand the meaning of the passage without actually put too much focus on the passage.

Passage inference could be considered as a reading skills. This usually tested when you do an SAT test to measure how much information you can gather from reading a certain text within a short period of time.
