The constant taxation and new laws are cruel to the colonists. On top of that, war comes and as a patriot I get to fight on my home land, so i have the advantage of fighting on familiar turf. My fighting spirit is stronger too, knowing that I am fighting for my rights and freedoms rather than fighting for a ruler. Additionally, I have great ports for trade in the north and plenty of prolific land to cultivate for future economic sustainability for generations to come in the south.
