The main character,Stargirl is a highly unusual person. She comes into the school and changes everything. She's a leader,people follow her without even knowing. When Jerry Spinelli says this,eat he is trying to imply is that Stargirl has came and layed a new culture upon her peers,and her community. She is an awakening. She is something new,like a burst of fresh air. Her community has changed due to her. She's broken them out of a boring spell,and now people are no longer dormant,living in a bland,gray society. She has added,color,texture,and a new meaning to their lives.
