The story of the underground railroad. A network to escape enslave African Americans in the American south to free Northern states. The Underground Railroad was the largest anti-slavery freedom movement in North America. Had over 30,000 Fugitives. Underground Railroad was created in the early 19th Century by abolitionists mainly in Phila and Pennsy. To get out of slavery and to be free or have the chance to get away the African Americans would sing a song metaphorically to tell one another things, like a screech message/code. This is how they would tell one another when to leave and when it is clear to to go.

The people who were in “charge” of the Underground Railroad made safe houses for escaped slaves to go to once they’ve made it away from they’re previous stay. One of the “leaders” was Harriet Tubman.

They would find ways to cross the boarder to Canada to be free and away from Slavery.
