How to identify the center of dilation, amd state the scale factor from figure A to Figure B.

Mathematics

Answer:

centre of dilation = origin (0,0)

scale factor = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to figure out the scale factor you just have to realise when you do a dilation, the distance between corresponding points will change according to the scale factor.

By looking at the triangle B in the graph the height is 3 units

similarly corresponding height of triangleA is 1 unit

For an dilation = large number ÷ small number

So our scale factor right over here is 3.

In order to identify centre of dilation draw a straight line from end point of height of small and large triangle and make a triangle out of this.

That straight line will be hypotenuse of the triangle and it will be exactly as large as the triangle B.

If a lineman can install 12 insulators in 183/4 hours, how many insulators should he be able to install in 281/8 hours?
katrin2010 [14]

Answer: 9

Step-by-step explanation:

12 insulators = 183/4 hours

x = 281/8

x × 183/4 = 12 ×281/ 8

183x/4 = 6 × 281/4

183x / 4 = 1686 / 4

4 cancel out 4

183x = 1686

Divide bothside by 183

x = 1686/183

x= 9.21311

x = 9 approximately.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH IT.
scoundrel [369]

OK. I did it. Now let's see if I can go through it without
getting too complicated.

I think the key to the whole thing is this fact:

     A radius drawn perpendicular to a chord bisects the chord.

That tells us several things:

-- OM bisects AB.
   'M' is the midpoint of AB.
   AM is half of AB.

-- ON bisects AC.
    'N' is the midpoint of AC.
   AN is half of AC.

-- Since AC is half of AB,
     AN is half of AM.
     a = b/2

Now look at the right triangle inside the rectangle.
'r' is the hypotenuse, so

                                            a² + b² = r²

But  a = b/2, so             (b/2)² + b² = r²

(b/2)² = b²/4                   b²/4   + b² = r²

Multiply each side by 4:     b² + 4b² = 4r²
                                       -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -
                                            0  + 5b² = 4r²
Repeat the
original equation: a² + b² = r²

Subtract the last
two equations:                  -a² + 4b² = 3r²

Add  a²  to each side:              4b²  =  a² + 3r² .    <=== ! ! !

An automobile tire loses t milliliters of tread traveling m miles. What is the independent variable?
CaHeK987 [17]
Dependent variable is dependent on the independent variable

m, because the amount of tread lost depends on how many miles you traveled
it's not, the amount of miles depends on how much tread you lost

m is indepdent
