How is "If you were to be lost in the river, Jonas, your memories would not be lost with you. Memories are forever." a meaningfu
iren [92.7K]

Answer:

Importance of Memory

Explanation:

Lois Lowry's 1994 dystopian novel "The Giver" has relevance to the contemporary world that has been skillfully portrayed by the writer.

Jonas is the major character of the novel- 'The Reciever'. Memories are forever means they are always alive through the experience of pain, suffering, and joy. It is not bounded by time or place neither does one have an escape. One can simply feel it. To eliminate all the pain one must give up on their memory but Jonas realizes that there is no pain or happiness without memory. Thus, memory is forever under all circumstances.
