The cold war led American students to become more interested in science and math .  At that time the Americans were afraid of the communists and the rights of the civil were restricted by this. People were afraid and restrict by this.

The whole Cold War had very high prices, and that took a lot from both the United States and the Soviet Union.

Immigration policies were very strict, because US was very afraid of the communists invading the country.
