You can work out the concentration of H+ ions (denoted as [H+]) easily on a calculator if you know the pH, which you do. The easiest way to work out [H+] is to do 10^{-pH}. In your case, the maths here would be 10^{-3.8}, which gets you an answer of 1.58x10^{-4}, or 0.000158. For 6.2 it would be 10^{-6.2}, which gives you 6.31x10^{7}, or 0.00000063. As you can see, the concentration of H+ ions is greater in pH 3.8.

To put it simply, the [H+] decreases the higher up the pH scale you go, and increases as you go lower, but now you know the maths to work it out for yourself too.

A 35 kg child moves with uniform circular motion while riding a horse on a carousel. The horse is 3.2 m from the carousel's axis
Andrews [41]
<h2>Hello!</h2>

The answer is:

b. \frac{2.11m}{s^{2}}

<h2>Why?</h2>

The centripetal acceleration or radial acceleration is present when an object is moving to describe a circular path. The centripetal acceleration is always perpendicular to the direction of the velocity and going inwards and towards the center.

The centripetal acceleration can be calculated using the following equation:

CentripetalAcceleration=\frac{v^{2}}{RadiusOfMotion}

From the statement we know that:

v=TangentialSpeed=\frac{2.6m}{s} \\R=3.2m

So, calculating we have:

CentripetalAcceleration=\frac{{2.6^{2} \frac{m}{s} }}{3.2m}=\frac{{6.76\frac{m}{s} }}{3.2m}=\frac{2.11m}{s^{2} }

So, the correct answer is:

b. \frac{2.11m}{s^{2}}

Have a nice day!

Why are model organisms used in biomedical research? a.) To help scientists understand medical issues that cannot be tested on h
Andrew [12]
The appropriate answer is a. to help scientists understand medical issues that cannot be tested on humans. Scientists often use animals that are easy to cultivate and have some similar anatomical feature to humans or have a feature similar to human organs or features. One of the most common model organism is the mice; a specially bred species used for testing in the lab.

A genetic mutation results in the inability for a cycad to produce coralloid roots. What types of soils would be least conducive
TEA [102]

The question is incomplete as it does not have the options which are:

A. Soils saturated with water

B. Drier soils

C. Soils with lower mean temperatures

D. Soils with lower nitrogen

E. Soils with lower pH

Answer:

D. Soils with lower nitrogen

Explanation:

A cycad is a group of plants which belong to the gymnosperms or the plants which bear naked seeds.

The cycads show a characteristic feature that they form a symbiotic relationship with the nitrogen-fixing bacteria like the cyanobacteria and the <em>Anabaena cicadae</em>. These nitrogen-fixing bacteria live in the roots of the plants and convert the atmospheric nitrogen to the ammonia which can be used by the plants and the roots are called the coralloid roots.

If a mutation occurs in the gene of cycad which produces coralloid roots then the mutation will affect the survival of the plant as plants will not have enough nitrogen to be utilized and the soil with lower nitrogen content will also affect the survival of these mutated cycads.

Thus, Option-D is correct.
