Answer:

The correct answer is C: a myosin head bound to actin.

Explanation:

The cross bridge cycle is a series of events that occur during muscle contraction. When muscle contracts, a myosin head (projected from a thick myosin filament) attaches to a thin actin filament (this is the so-called cross bridge). The thin filament also contains tropomyosin and troponin.

Then, a second myosin head binds to ATP and catalyzes it in presence of calcium. This step gives the muscle the energy to contract.

Without calcium, tropomyosin and troponin avoid myosin and actin to interact.

If cells do not respond to the normal mechanisms that control cell division, _______ results.
natali 33 [55]

When cells do not respond to the signals that normally regulate cell division, cancer results. Cancer cells altered cell division in the presence of signals that normally inhibit cell growth, with this; they no longer require special signals to induce cell growth and division. The consequence of the abnormalities of these cells could lead to mutations in protein-encoding genes that regulate cell division.

Moreover, they also inhibit the growth of nearby cells that allow the cancer cells to spread and invade other tissues. The uncontrollable division form masses of cells called tumors that can impaired nearby tissues. If these cells stay in their original site, they are considered benign, if they become invasive, they are considered malignant which means that cancer cells metastasize, sending tumor cells to distant locations in the body where new tumors may form.

Cytotoxic T (TC) cells are like natural killer (NK) cells because they both:________.
andrew11 [14]

Answer: Option A.

participate in innate immunity

secrete granzymes and perforin

Explanation:

Cytotoxic T (TC) cells are like natural killer (NK) cells because they both because participate in innate immunity they are components of innate immune system i.e white blood cells that fight against disease or act as defence for infections.

NK cells can recognize and destroy cells that have regulated MHC class I molecules from their cell surface. They recognise the viral pathogens and activate the receptor that bind to the target cell and it releases cytotoxic granules that contain perforin and granzymes, which leads to lysis of the target cell and then it's clear off the infection by producing antibodies.
