We left Vietnam peculiar creatures, with young shoulders that bore rather old heads. What is the author attempting to convey to

the reader using sensory language? Only old men were allowed to fight in the war. Injuries caused veterans to age more quickly. While their bodies were young, their minds were old. Physical damage caused psychological damage.

The right answer is "While their bodies were young, their minds were old".

The explanation for this answer is that when the author uses the expression "young shoulders" he is referring to a young body, and when he uses the expression "very old heads" he is referring to an old mind.

Probably the author used these expressions to say that although young, the peculiar creatures of Vietnam had a very mature maturity for their ages.

I think it is imagery because it makes you imagine what it looks like, but it could be slant rhyme because the last word in each line rhyme. I would personally go with imagery but I'm not sure. -- Hope this helps

To be used with "Dark Star" passage: Which line from the text best supports the idea that Giselle’s passion for horses and ridin
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

"It had been almost four weeks since she’d ridden Dark Star, and Giselle was adamant that her broken arm would not inhibit her riding."

Explanation:

This is the line from the text that shows that Giselle is so passionate about horses and riding that she sometimes is careless about her safety. In this line, we learn that Giselle really misses riding and cannot wait to ride Dark Star again. Therefore, she decides to go riding even though she has a broken arm. This can be very dangerous, and serves as evidence of how careless Giselle can be when it comes to her personal safety.
