Answer:

Journal entries:

a.  Cash  Dr $216000

              share premium  Cr $36000

              Capital                Cr $180000

b.  Retained earnings   Dr  $48500

                     Common Stock  Cr  $44000

                      paid-in capital   Cr   $4500

c. Retained earnings    Dr  $48500

                      Common Stock  Cr  $48500

d.  Cash   Dr $273500

               Preferred stock  Cr 225000

               paid-in capital     Cr 48500

Explanation:

In transaction a the corporation has issued 9000 shares at a par value of $20 so the capital raised should be $180000 (i.e $20 × 9000) but the total amount of cash received is $216000 (i.e $36000 more than the capital amount), this implies that the corporation has issued the shares at a premium, that's why the amount representing the par value is credited to the capital account and the rest is transferred to the premium account.

In transaction b the corporation has issued no-par common stock to promoters in exchange for their efforts which means the corporation won't receive any financial consideration in return for the issue of these common stock. That's why corporation's retained earnings are reduced (credited). As a rule for non-par common stock, if No-par common stock with stated value are issued then the common stock account is credited up to the amount of the par value and the additional amount in excess of the par value is credited to the paid-in capital.

In transaction c the corporation has similarly issued no-par common stock (the difference here is, that these no-par common stock have no stated value). Therefore the estimated worth of the common stock is fully credited to the common stock account and retained earnings are debited because the corporation is not receiving any sort of consideration (i.e cash) in exchange for shares.

In transaction d the corporation has issued 2250 preferred stock at a par value of $100, the value of preferred stock at par value should be $225,000 but it has received $273500 in cash, therefore it implies the excess of funds received is the premium and that's why it's credited and treated as paid-in capital.

Your friend Wanda established her gourmet dog treat business, Salty Pawz, using personal funds, since she initially sold her pro
denpristay [2]

Based on the advantages and disadvantages for each type of financing mentioned below, the best method for financing the expansion for Wanda's business is taking a loan (e.g. 1 year).

Take a term loan (e.g. 1 year)

A term loan is best described as an amount provided by the bank for a fixed amount and a agreed payment schedule with an interest rate either fixed or floating.

The main advantage of a bank loan is that it would not be repaid on demand instead it would be paid back as per schedule within a period of 1 to 10 years. Another advantage is that you would only have to pay the bank the interest rate and not the company's profit or share.

The disadvantage is that when loans are taken, then the amount (principal) and interest is to be repaid even if the loan is not being used. Another possible disadvantage is that a loan can be obtained if you have any asset (such as a house or car) to be kept as security. This is a guarantee in the likely event the bank's loan is not repaid on time.

Look for investors to fund her business in exchange for ownership in the company

This means finding individuals/institutions to provide financing as capital to be used in business for expansion.

Unlike a bank loan, here the investors accept the risk that if the business fails then their financing would be lost. Therefore, if the business ends up in losses then the amount is not required to be returned to their respective financiers. Another advantage is that you don't require any credit history to earn financing through investors.

The main disadvantage is that the sharing (profits) are divided between multiple investors based on their investment or as per their agreed sharing ratio. Moreover, the new investors might prefer to take more risks for a business to grow and which means that the stakes are always high.

In conclusion, Wanda is working on a small business and which is expanding at a slow rate with the risk being kept at a bare minimum. In which case taking a loan with amount and duration being set at a point where she would be able to return the loan acquired, is a better financing option for Wanda's business.

An operator wants to determine the standard deviation for a machine she operates. To do this, she wants to create a p-chart. Ove
kondaur [170]

Answer:

The answer is letter A.

Explanation:

Less than or equal to 0.1

Because:

Average proportion (P-bar)= 0.024

Observations (n)= 75

sd =√(P-bar)(1-(P-bar)/n

sd =√(0.024)(1-0.024)/75

sd= √(0.024)(0.976)/75

sd= √(0.023424)/75

sd= 0.01767

sd ≤ 0.1

When is competition deemed desirable in business, when is it undesirable?
OverLord2011 [107]
Competition is also considered the basis for capitalist or free market economies.

Competition is desirable when the price charged to individuals equals the marginal cost of production to each firm. In other words, one can say sellers charge buyers a reasonable or fair price.

Competition is undesirable when it leads to a lower output and increased costs. Competition is undesirable in business because you have to prevent new innovative ideas surviving due to firms operating with high research and development costs alongside dominant advertising. In addition fewer incentives to cut costs because of a lack of competitors.
