I think the Scarlet Ibis is a symbol of love. The bird is just like Doodle. They both don’t belong because they should have died and fortunately they didn’t. They both got to where they were trying to be but once they got there they died from their body in exhaustion. I personally think the the sweetest part was when Doodle cared for the Scarlet Ibis and wanted to bury the bird in their backyard.

Why does Whitman call ship "grim and daring" in line 4?
hoa [83]

Line 4: “Keel” has multiple meanings. The first is the part of the ship that goes along the underside that gives the ship stability in the water. This usage really doesn’t make much sense, though, because one can’t see a “steady keel” unless the boat has fallen over. The other use of keel here is as a synecdoche. The keel, a part of a boat, is used to represent the whole boat. More importantly, "the steady keel" lets us know that, despite its rough trip, the ship (like the nation) remains steadfast and true.

Pennsylvania
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

1. The Northeast US. "Pennsylvania is in the northeast United States."

2. You can infer that winter is cold in Pennsylvania because it is in the northeast part of the US. Also, "Pennsylvania experiences all seasons-winter, spring, summer, and fall."

3. That it's pretty big, because it borders 6 states. "It borders New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland."

4. If written from the point of view of a student living in Pennsylvania, parts of the paragraph might say, "Our state bird is the Ruffed Grouse and our motto is “Virtue, liberty, and independence.” Our state capital is Harrisburg and our largest city is Philadelphia.
