Why is using slang NOT appropriate in a business setting? Slang is appropriate if you are extremely familiar with your audience.

Generally, slang isn't appropriate in a business setting because it is considered unprofessional (and sometimes even disrespectful). However, in modern day, things are really beginning to shift—it mostly depends on where your working and which slang terms you're using. Hope this helps!
