Which other system is responsible for moving oxygen and nutrients to ogens, cells and tissues?
nika2105 [10]
The Respiratory System brings oxygen into the blood; it is the responsibility of the Circulatory System to transport it, with nutrients from digestion, to cells of the body.
The Circulatory System is three-fold: the blood carrying the substances, the vessels in which blood flows, and the heart which pumps it around in a circle-like movement and back (hence the term 'circulatory').

Which artery carries oxygen-poor blood?
Whitepunk [10]
A good rule of thumb to remember is that arteries always take oxygen rich blood away from the heart to the rest of the body and veins carry oxygen poor blood back to the heart. The only two circumstances this is not the case is the Umbilical and pulmonary vasculature. Pulmonary Arteries take oxygen poor blood away from the heart to the lungs to be oxygenated and this oxygenated blood returns to the heart via pulmonary veins.

Why would the aorta wall be thicker than the pulmonary trunk wall?
ser-zykov [4K]
This has to do with blood pressure, blood leaving the right ventricle only has to travel through the pulmonary vessels and the lungs before returning to the heart. Therefore the r vent, does not pump it very hard, this creates a lower pressure, therefore the pulmonary vessels do not need to be as thick. However, the blood entering the aorta vent needs to travel a great distance throughout the body), it is pumped very hard in order for the blood to circulate. Thus the walls of the aorta need to be thicker in order to withstand the higher pressure.
