PLEASE HELP ASAP AND SHOW WORK!!! A 14 kg rock starting from rest free falls through a distance of 5.0 m with no air resistance.

Find the momentum change of the rock caused by its fall and the resulting change in the magnitude of earths velocity. earth mass is 6.0 * 10^24 kg. Show your work assuming the rock earth system is closed.

Time taken to fall the rock from rest

here we know that

\Delta y = 5 m

v_i = 0

a = 10 m/s^2

now we have

\Delta y = v_i t + \frac{1}{2}at^2

5 = \frac{1}{2}10t^2

t = 1 s

Now we know that

F\Delta t = \Delta P

here Force (F) is due to gravity

so we have

F = mg = 14(10) = 140 N

now we can plug in all data

140 \times 1 = \Delta P

\Delta P = 140 kg m/s

So change in momentum of rock will be 140 kg m/s

Now we know from Newton's III law

F_{rock} = F_{earth}

so we have

\Delta P_{earth} = \Delta P_{rock} = 140 Ns

now we have

m(v_f - v_i) = 140

6\times 10^{24}(v_f - 0) = 140

v_f = 2.33 \times 10^{-23} m/s

so above is the speed of Earth

A bullet travels at 850 m/s. how long will it take a bullet to go 1 km?
Dmitrij [34]
The speed of bullet =
850 m/s

Distance given = 1 km = 1000m

S = D/t
t • S = D/t • t
St = D
St/S = D/S
t = D/S
t = 1000m/850m/s
t = 1.176 s

It will take the bullet 1.176 or about 1.18 seconds to go 1 km.

Two waves are superposed. one wave has an amplitude of 5 cm, and other has an amplitude of 4 cm. What is the resultant amplitude
Vsevolod [243]
If both waves have the same wavelength, then the amplitude of
their sum could be anything between 1 cm and 9 cm, depending
on the phase angle between them.

If the waves have different wavelengths, then the resultant is a beat
with an amplitude of 9 cm.

The flagpole is held vertical by two ropes. The first of these ropes has a tension in it of 100 N and is at an angle of 60° to t
KatRina [158]

Answer:

T₂ = 123.9 N,  θ = 66.2º

Explanation:

To solve this exercise we use the law of equilibrium, since the diaphragm does not appear, let's use the adjoint to see the forces in the system.

The tension T1 = 100 N, we create a reference frame centered on the pole

X axis

       T₁ₓ - T_{2x} = 0

        T_{2x}= T₁ₓ

Y axis y

      T_{1y} + T_{2y} - 200N = 0

      T_{2y} = 200 -T_{1y}

let's use trigonometry to find the component of the stresses

         sin 60 = T_{1y} / T₁

         cos 60 = t₁ₓ / T₁

         T_{1y} = T₁ sin 60

         T1x = T₁ cos 60

         T_{1y}y = 100 sin 60 = 86.6 N

         T₁ₓ = 100 cos 60 = 50 N

for voltage 2 it is done in the same way

         T_{2y} = T₂ sin θ

         T₂ₓ = T₂ cos θ

we substitute

           T₂ sin θ= 200 - 86.6 = 113.4

           T₂ cos θ = 50              (1)

to solve the system we divide the two equations

           tan θ = 113.4 / 50

           θ = tan⁻¹ 2,268

           θ = 66.2º

we caption in equation 1

           T₂ cos 66.2 = 50

           T₂ = 50 / cos 66.2

           T₂ = 123.9 N

5. A man has a weight of 100 Newtons. How much work is done if he climbs 4 meters up a ladder? Plug numbers under the equation.
Virty [35]

Answer:

<h2>400 J</h2>

Explanation:

The work done by an object can be found by using the formula

workdone = force × distance

From the question we have

workdone = 100 × 4

We have the final answer as

<h3>400 J</h3>

Hope this helps you
