It was different in the sense that the two main protagonists didn’t fight each other directly, but fought proxy wars in other nations. The Soviets aiding and arming one side, the US arming another side. It was a bit like a global chess game in a sense. The US and the Soviets trying to out think each other while building their own empires and depleting the resources of the other. Unfortunately other people and other nations were used as pawns, and the effects are still being felt today.
Pioneers were those who traveled West during the mid 19th century, as a result of the believe of Manifest Destiny, which stated that the United States was destined to expand West and conquer the land. During this time things such as the Homestead Act, which encouraged westward expansion, were created and gave people land in exchange for expansion. Pioneers would usually bring wagons, as well as <span>flour, bacon, coffee and a selection of dried foods (beans, fruit, beef, etc...). As far as material items, they used blankets, ground cloths, pillows, tent, poles, stakes, ropes.</span>
