The correct answer would be option C for 1 and B for 2.

The underground railroad was a system of hiding places for slaved along the route to freedom.

Conductors on the railroads were people who guided escaped slaves to free northern states.

Explanation:

Underground Railroad was established in the early to mid 19th century. Underground Railroad was basically a network of secret routes. These routes were used by the African American enslaved people. The enslaved African American used these secret paths, called Underground Railroad, to escape to the free states and Canada.

The name, Underground Railroad, is just a symbolic representation, otherwise there was no such underground routes or even railroads. The who network was working secretly, so it was named as underground, and because people were escaping through certain paths, it was called as railroads.

There were hiding places for the people as well, like private homes, churches, schools, which were called as Stations, and the people who helped the slaves were called Conductors.
